Friday, March 13, 2020 - My partner and I were on our way out of town, traveling East on I-90 on our way to the Hudson Valley for a weekend of relaxation and decompression after the opening reception for Altered Space. The news came in that COVID-19 had reached the Greater Rochester Area. Schools were closed until the logistics of remote learning could be figured out. Ultimately we decided to continue on our trip to a cabin in the woods. We did venture out a bit during the weekend; lunch at a diner in Leeds, wandering around Kingston, etc. Everything seemed normal but there was this looming feeling…

Monday, March 16, 2020 - Other than trucks, the highway was empty, the rest stops might as well have been abandoned. The whole world felt like a ghost town. I would know, I’ve been to Silent Hill. Upon returning home we made a quick trip to the grocery store and prepared to hunker down at home for what we thought would be a few weeks, maybe a month or two. I wanted to document the time and I decided that I would make a new collage work every day until… things returned to normal, I guess. Eventually the reality set in that normal as we knew it wasn’t coming back, and on Day 52 I used a cut that I had been saving for the last day. Ultimately, I kept the series going until everyone in the house had reached full immunity status two weeks after receiving the initial two vaccine doses… on Day 467.
